I suspect the bit on the origin of the name is just a joke: Google search brings up this, which calls them Mr. Brain's Faggots. Evercat 23:35 27 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Judging by what I see when I go shopping, faggots are freely available from many butchers, including Tesco, with no mention of a brand name. I suspect there are also other brands besides Brain's -- they just happen to be the best known. As this is an article about a commercial product, shouldn't it be "Brain's Faggots" rather than "Brain's faggots"? Deb 16:40 28 Jul 2003 (UTC)
