Middlesex is a historic county and former administrative county of England from the outer south-west through the north to the inner north-east of modern London. Since 1965 most of the area of the county has been within the administrative area and ceremonial county of Greater London. Small parts of the former county are now within Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Surrey.
