Article Joel Minnick Longenecker listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion July 3 to July 10 2004, consensus was to keep but list on cleanup. Discussion:
I question whether or not this individual's accomplishments merit an encyclopedia entry. --67.171.28.197 05:17, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
"This looks more like genealogical info, rather than info about a person of genuine historical significance. --67.171.28.197 05:15, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)" (moved here)

- Keep marginally significant, was a judge and an important lawyer. Dunc_Harris|☺ 17:08, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- A really close call. The page is excessively detailed and quite wrong on at least one point (Chickamauga is not in Alabama; it's in Georgia (i.e. "nowhere" to some folks); more likely he got mortally wounded there and then died later, in Alabama). What is the medal pictured for? I suppose it's not wrong to have too much information, but the information is much greater than the significance. One paragraph is all second place governor racers would get, and that's his contribution to the world. His family and their doings aren't. A savage trimming would make it a keep. - Wow, tough call. Keep, but marginally. He had some significance, but how much in all? I know that Wikipedia isn't paper, but this should be sent to cleanup for a bit of a trim. It's a far sight better than a substub and more than worthy of a second chance. - Lucky 6.9 00:50, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- At a certain point, this also straddles the bridge to local interest. Even though his current importance is marginal, he seems important locally to his time, and therefore worth keeping. Rhymeless 03:12, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I think a clear keep, what with his being a big GAR (an important organization at its time) leader, an important judge in an important jurisdiction (chicago, u.s.a.), and enough of a politician to at least be nominated for governer. The stuff about his brothers can probably go though.--Samuel J. Howard 06:23, Jul 4, 2004 (UTC)
- Granted this might only be of local interest, but not anymore than some other articles on Wikipedia, like those listing neighborhood parks! newkai 04:03, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Needs a fairly major clean-up, but does appear to be sufficiently significant for inclusion. Average Earthman 12:18, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, give it the benefit of the doubt. Does not actually smell like vanity to me. I have to admit the excellent photograph of the medallion weighs in my judgement. Dpbsmith 23:10, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)
