Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello Jamyskis, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 00:47, 13 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The above is now a fat little article. Cheers. -- BD2412 thimk 20:19, 2005 May 13 (UTC)

When changing your vote on VfD, it's customary (and helpful to the discussion closer) to strike out your previous vote(s) with <s></s> tags. Cheers, androidtalk 21:03, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

Tom Barnard

[edit]

Howdy. You voted to delete the initial version of Tom Barnard (VfD) , and rightly so, but I've made some substantive improvements to the article. I don't have any particular attachment to the article or its subject, so if you still feel that it ought to be deleted (not notable, etc.), that's fine by me; just thought I'd let you know. Image source/licensing for Image:C64gs.jpg

[edit]
The image you uploaded, Image:C64gs.jpg, has no source information. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Unless the copyright status is provided, the image will be marked for deletion on 24 October 2005.

This message notification has been automatically sent by NotificationBot managed and run by AllyUnion. Please leave comments regarding bot operations at AllyUnion's talk page. Please direct all comments regarding licensing information at Wikipedia talk:Images for deletion. --NotificationBot 13:29, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Lord of the Rings Peer Review

[edit]

Thank you for your enthusiasm in nominating LOTR for peer review. However, I fear that you were (in the words of the Ents) "hasty". The entire directions on nominating an article for peer review were at the top of the peer review page. Here they are, for future reference:

How to make a request
 • Anyone can request peer review here. When posting your request, include a brief description of the kind of comments/contributions you want, and sections of the article you think need to be reviewed. The best way to get lots of reviews is to reply promptly and appreciatively on this page to the comments you do get.
 • Procedure for adding nominations:
 1. Place peerreview at the top of the article's talk page (not the article itself) to let other editors of the article know that the article is being peer reviewed.
 2. From there, click on the link request has been made that appears in the new "peer review" box. This will open a page to discuss the review of your article.
 3. Place ===name of nominated article=== at the top (do not forget the link brackets).
 4. Below it, write your reason for nominating the article and sign by using four tildes (~~~~).
 5. Place at the top of the list of nominees found on this page (Requests).
 6. Politely request feedback on the discussion pages of one or more articles in the same or a related field, and/or send messages to one or more individual Wikipedians who have contributed to the same or a closely related field.

I have already fixed your peer review (since I was watching the George Washington Peer Review which you added it to), and the LOTR peer review can now be found here, or at the top of the peer review page. Thanks, and happy editing! --Trevdna 17:33, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comments

[edit]

I would like to point out to you that I never offered WP:IAR as a justification for my actions. That you say that I do suggests that you haven't actually read any of my statements on the affair. Please read what I've wrote, rather than what my detractors are saying about me, and reconsider whether your vote and your comments are grounded in fact. Thank you. Kelly Martin (talk) 14:03, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, in other words, you choose to disregard what I actually say in favor of the words put into my mouth by others. You're free to do that, but you must understand that doing so does not exactly endear me to have faith in your good faith. Kelly Martin (talk) 14:36, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're getting a bit hasty to try and dispute articles. I don't really think there is a iron-clad peice of information for material which belondgs solely in the realms of fiction. the idea of Voldemort's stature is tacit within the text itself, and doesn't really need to be extrapolated into anything more scientific. Hi, you have commented the site i have put on about Joseph Knoll. Unfortunatly I am not him. This guy have invented the cure of parkinsons and alzheimer and made other valuable researches to society. He has been teaching pharmacology in the univesrsity of medicine in Budapest for 50 years now. If you punch his name into any engine there will be millions of links concerning his works as he was to be nominated for the nobel as well. I am a student of his and happy to help in any concerns you have about getting information about his works. I just wasnt sure how detailed i can get on this subject in this platform. Enjoying your work, keep it up. Regards, George

Please explain

[edit]

A few days ago this message appeared after I inadvertently edited my user page without signing in. I don't understand the part about "experiment" although it seems that it is possibly sarcastic. What is your function on WP that you somehow became involved in this? What exactly was "reverted"? This perplexed me. Thank you in advance for responding. --Edivorce 14:20, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit must have been mistaken for vandalism. I expect that was a genuine mistake. The message is from a standard template (Template:Test1), but I don't think it's meant to be sarcastic. --StuartBrady 15:14, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for responding. I'm glad that no disrespect was intended. I think you should look at the language of the template. Surely inadvertent failures to log in are common, and must be more common than deliberate vandalism. I would still like you to clarify your role, what tools you have access to monitor such actions. The template does not provide any information concerning this. Again, thanks.--Edivorce 00:45, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank for the truly informative response to my questions. I think it was exemplary. I see below that you have and presumably will in the future seek to be an administrator. Based on our exchange in this matter I would be happy to support you in your endeavor--Edivorce 21:49, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for adminship

Best of luck in a future RFA. FYI, my own personal standard for self noms is ~2000 edits and six active months, though other RFA voters may have higher or lower standards. Just keep up the good work and learn what you can on some of the Wikipedia policies and procedures, and you'll likely be successful in the future. --Deathphoenix 16:30, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, That was close. I suggest you run again in a few weeks. Until then, be active and help people out. Krashlandon (e) 22:09, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was the first voter on your rfa and voted neutral - I believe that all the concerns voiced by voters can be easily addressed by you. Keep up the activity levels for the next three months or so and I am sure that your rfa will pass easily. --Gurubrahma 15:33, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jamyskis, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Wikipedia may persuade you to reconsider your position. Re:Casino

[edit]

It is original research, but you have no source to back up this "impact" you think is notable. Product placement is not new; companies taking over distribution and production for a film series is not new; having information with no source removed is not new either. There is no encyclopedic content about saying, well "Sony distributed Casino Royale, and they used a Blu-Ray disc in their film". It's a personal observation, that has no serious encyclopedic content. If you can find some source that discusses this, and why it is important, sure. But your personal opinion that it is important, especially when you haven't even provided evidence of any such notability, is irrelevent to Wikipedia. I could believe that my toe nail is important to Wikipedia, but I would need reliable sourcing discussing why my toe nail is important.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 11:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Cocoon dvd.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cocoon dvd.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:58, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Driller inlay.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Driller inlay.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 23:10, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maureen O'Gara

A prod template has been added to the article Maureen O'Gara, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with db-author. THF 23:48, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maureen O'Gara, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Maureen O'Gara satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maureen O'Gara and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Maureen O'Gara during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:59, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HungryHorace Inlay.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:HungryHorace Inlay.jpg.

Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 03:46, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They've been deleting your images

[edit]

I noticed that Image:Spectrum Double Dragon.png has been deleted because of some weak reasoning about lack of rationale for use of non-free images. I think this is an important image and i've included the basics of a template with a reasonable fair-use rationale for you to use if you care to upload the image once again.

Summary
Thanks for uploading. It's sad to see this behaviour from admins. Hopefully this image will stick around for a while now. In case you interested, here is the blog article I wrote that linked to the image (which is how I found out it had been deleted). --Robmint (talk) 05:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --17:35, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Request for Help

[edit]

Hi there Jamyskis:), I noticed your username on Translators Available Danish to English. I was wondering if you could help with updating Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi on the Danish Wikipedia? Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi on the English Wikipedia has been majorly revamped- particularly, its being treated as a BLP now, since no ones been able to find evidence of his death. I'm sorry to say I know little Danish, so I'd really appreciate your help in this :), although I understand if you don't have the time. Thanks in advance! [edit]

Hello, My name is Natalia Ioana Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University, Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of user motivation to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 1st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Francis Drake, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Drake Circus (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Percussive maintenance has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability, and not much more can be said about the topic than the one sentence.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. German Translation

[edit]

Hello Jamyskis,

Would you be bale to translate the below article for the German wikipedia? I have been making requests to translators on the List of German translators. Have not yet had any replies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_graffiti_and_street_art_injuries_and_deaths (Happy to have replies any on my talk page) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xyxyzyz (talkcontribs) 22:39, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I need a translation of a sentence, into French

[edit]
 1. The sentence is: "Welcome to the first stage, of the fourth international program of MAL's method, the internatinal training course of MAL, 2021"
 2. By "program" I mean, like in: "governmental program", or "educational program", and the like.
 3. By "stage" I mean: phase/part/step (Actually the "program" consists of a few stages).
 4. I know to use GoogleTranslate, but I need a native translation.
 5. Additionally, I would like to know how to pronounce the whole translated sentence (including "2021"), so please add also the transcription in IPA (or in Latin letters, as close to the original pronunciation as possible - if you are not familiar with IPA). Please mark also the stress, e.g. by adding an apostrophe before the stressed syllable (or by typing the stressed vowel in a capital letter).
