Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake. | |||||||||||||

"Lower-middle income"?
[edit]In the introduction to the article, Vietnam is listed as a "lower-middle income" country. This contradicts Wikipedia's own "economy of Vietnam" page, which provides ample evidence that it is actually an "upper-middle income" country (33rd by GDP, etc). The description is either out of date, a typo, or ideologically motivated; at any rate it should be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.252.21.54 (talk) 16:00, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
Official Name
[edit]In the lead it says "officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam", but footnote e says "Viet Nam" is the officially designated form of Vietnam. Shouldn't the official name in the lead then say "officially the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam"? Unbeatable101 (talk) 17:52, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Vietnam only has a space in Vietnamese (Việt Nam). English doesn’t. 171.244.185.182 (talk) 13:48, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
Ref formatting
[edit]The choice of using short refs exclusively is a bit much I think; it adds huge length to the bottom of the article, and requires an extra click or hover-over to find what ref is leading to what source. Short refs are I think useful for when one source is cited multiple times. 211.43.120.242 (talk) 03:42, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
Third

In the infobox it says 3th century BC. It should be changed to 3rd because third is the correct word. Thirth would be incorrect. Thwaluigi (talk) 20:03, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Can you remove this line. I'm from vietnam and it's not corrupt.
. It has high levels of corruption, censorship, environmental issues and a poor human rights record; the country ranks among the lowest in international measurements of civil liberties, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion and ethnic minorities. 107.189.255.5 (talk) 11:15, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

Religions
[edit]The information in the "Religions" is incorrect. The number of Buddhists is about 14.9% population, compares to 8.5% population of Catholicism (year 2019 data), here is a reliable source link you can check out: https://www.state.gov/reports/2019-report-on-international-religious-freedom/vietnam/
By the way, I am Vietnamese.

My suggestion is to remove "freedom of religion and ethnic minorities" from the lead.
In the lead, "ranks among the lowest in international measurements of [...] freedom of religion and ethnic minorities" is original synthesis. In International rankings of Vietnam, there is no rankings about religions or ethnic minorities. In the linked article Freedom of religion in Vietnam, it is noted that religion has a certain level of tolerance among the population ("Vietnamese people tend to have a tolerant perception towards different religious groups, with there having been only a few cases of anti-religious violence in recent years regarding Governmental issues and/or problems") and the government ("The status of respect for religious freedom improved significantly during the period covered by this report"), which when compared to Middle Eastern countries (such as Freedom of religion in Saudi Arabia) is far from the worst. 130.245.192.6 (talk) 15:54, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

In the language part of the demographic section: I think we need to add one more detail that Vietnamese belongs to the Vietic languages, just stating that it belongs to Austroasiatic languages is too general because Austroasiatic languages are a language family like Indo-European languages. For example, German is an Indo-European language, but when referring to it, people often detail first that it is a (West) Germanic language before mentioning its Indo-European nature. For the first sentence of this part, we should fix that "The national language of the country is Vietnamese, a tonal Vietic language in Austroasiatic family language (Mon–Khmer)". Regarding the climate part of this article, I still feel lacking, I think it is necessary to state an important detail at the beginning of this part like: "Based on the Köppen climate classification, the climate in Northern Vietnam is monsoon influenced humid subtropical climate (Cwa) while the climate in the Central and Southern Vietnam is tropical and similar to the typical climate of Southeast Asia".
