Standard User Greeting

reference
[edit]In Pitteway triangulation you wrote "Okabe, et. al." Normally "et al" is used in the body of the text and then in the list of references it's spelled out completely. Michael Hardy 15:09, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Pitteway triangulation
[edit]Hello. Could you respond to the matter at talk:Pitteway triangulation? Thanks. Michael Hardy 01:52, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Muscles, Reflexes and Locomotion
[edit]A tag has been placed on Muscles, Reflexes and Locomotion requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. RP459 (talk) 14:20, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Thomas A. McMahon
[edit]The article Thomas A. McMahon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 02:20, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
status
[edit]I removed the prod tag, as Full profs. at Harvard always turn out to be notable. But this article needs more information to show it. see our guide to writing Wikipedia articles . Give reviews of his book, and list other publications, at least the main ones. getting citation figures from Web of Science, which does cover this period. Include major national level offices and awards, but not minor ones. Be sure to list editorships (but not mere editorial board membership) --we consider it very important, and you should add it to the articles for the relevant journals also, with a link to the bio. If the subject of the article has any notable students who would qualify for Wikipedia bios, include them. Their PhD & postdoctoral advisors probably also qualify for bios here; add them and link them, even if they do not yet have articles.
As for his book, do not try to write a separate article unless there are really major reviews and enough information to show it a true classic--rather, merge any information you have into the article on him.
If I can help you with any of this, let me know. DGG ( talk ) 20:40, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 22:23, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
