Xena, Warrior Ashigaru

I've just gone ahead and removed the claim about female ashigaru, as it's unsupported by the single source cited. Please find a credible reference if you want to put it back. -- Rogerborg 22:08, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Katana

Under usual equipment and armament it lists the katana as an ashigaru weapon. The katana is the sword of the samurai caste and was very expensive. Barring references to commoners not being allowed to carry katana (which I would use as a reason to move the katana reference if I could find a solid source on) the ashigaru were cheaply outfitted and it would not be economical to outfit them with an expensive sword. 97.85.78.107 (talk) 04:03, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
